VIOFO HK4 Hardwire Kit User Manual & Troubleshooting Guide
VIOFO HK4 Hardwire Kit acting up? Lost the booklet? No stress.
Trying to get your VIOFO set up for parking mode but tossed the instructions with the packaging? It happens to the best of us. We’ve pulled together the digital manual, the voltage cut-off specs, and some common troubleshooting tips to get your rig sorted without the headache.
💡 Pro Tip: Don't Forget the Fuse Taps!
Wiring the HK4 directly into your fuse box can be a bit dodgy if you're just jamming wires in. For a clean, safe install that doesn't void your car's warranty, make sure you're using the correct Add-A-Circuit Fuse Taps for your vehicle type.
Voltage Cut-Off Settings (The Important Bit)
The most confusing part of the HK4 is usually the little switch on the black box. This determines when the camera cuts power so your car battery doesn't go flat. Here is the cheat sheet for the 4 switch positions.
Note: We generally recommend 12.2V or 12.4V for most Aussie daily drivers to keep your battery healthy.
| Option | Switch Position | 12V Batteries (Cars/Utes) | 24V Batteries (Trucks) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low | 11.8V | 11.8V | 23.6V |
| Medium | 12.0V | 12.0V | 24.0V |
| High | 12.2V | 12.2V | 24.4V |
| Highest | 12.4V | 12.4V | 24.8V |
Common Questions & Troubleshooting
Which wire goes where?
Red goes to a fuse that has power all the time (Battery). Yellow goes to a fuse that only has power when the engine is on (ACC). Black goes to a bare metal bolt (Ground). If you mix up Red and Yellow, parking mode won't engage properly. No dramas, just swap 'em over.

The camera isn't entering Parking Mode.
This is usually an issue with the Yellow (ACC) wire. If you plugged it into a fuse that stays on for a while after the car is off (like some radio fuses), the camera thinks you're still driving. Try finding a fuse that cuts power instantly when you turn the key off, like the wipers or cigarette lighter.
My car battery died even with the kit installed.
Check your voltage cut-off switch (the table above). If you have it set to 11.8V, that's likely too low for an older battery to crank over the engine on a cold morning. Bump it up to 12.2V or 12.4V for peace of mind.
