VIOFO A329S Review: 4K 60fps and the New 3-Channel Benchmark
If you have been researching dash cams and keep seeing the VIOFO A329S called the new benchmark, that is not just marketing talk. Reviewers who test these for a living rate it as the current high point for multi-channel video quality, and after fitting plenty of them, we agree. If you want serious footage and the latest features, this is the camera to beat.
In this VIOFO A329S review we will cover what it records, why the 4K 60fps front camera matters, the SSD storage and smart parking features, the waterproof A329SW version, the accessories we would add, and the one card you should never skip.
What does the VIOFO A329S record?
The A329S comes in a few versions to suit different drivers. The front-only and front-and-rear versions record 4K at up to 60 frames per second. Frames per second is the number of still images the camera grabs each second, so 60fps gives you smoother motion and a better chance of freezing a sharp frame of a fast-moving plate. The 3-channel version adds a cabin camera - but will drop the overall FPS to 30.
What sets it apart is that every camera uses a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, the latest low-light chip, including the rear. Reviewers describe the rear camera as one of the best they have seen on a multi-channel dash cam, which is exactly why the A329S has earned its reputation. The A329 series also earned a 5-star Best Dash Cam 2025 rating from TechRadar, and reviewers like Vortex Radar rate the A329S among the best all-round dash cams for 2026.
Why does 4K 60fps matter?
Two reasons. First, the smoother motion is easier to watch and makes fast events clearer. Second, the higher frame rate forces a faster shutter speed, which cuts motion blur, so a plate flashing past is more likely to come out readable rather than smeared. The front camera records at a incredibly high bitrate of around 65 Mbps, meaning it uses a lot of data per second to hold onto fine detail.
The A329S also has a clever AutoHDR option. It runs 4K 60fps in the daytime for the sharpest, smoothest footage, then switches to 4K 30fps with HDR at night, when blending exposures matters more than frame rate. HDR is high dynamic range, where the camera merges a bright and a dark exposure so headlights and shadows are both readable in the one frame. If you want to dial it in, our guide to the A329S's best 60fps settings breaks down when to use each mode.
The features that set it apart
The A329S has Wi-Fi 6, the faster wireless standard, on both 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands, which speeds up copying clips from the camera to your phone. It also supports an external solid-state drive, or SSD, of up to 4TB over a USB-C cable, so you can store far more footage than a memory card alone. One thing to know: owners have had trouble with random SSD drives, so stick to a model VIOFO recommends.
It also introduced VIOFO's smarter parking features, including a Low Power Impact Mode and a Hybrid Parking Mode that protect your car while you are away without flattening your battery. We put these to the test in our A329S low-power and parking mode bench test, which is well worth a read before you set yours up. For the full install walkthrough, see our A329S setup and troubleshooting guide.
The waterproof version
If you want the rear camera mounted somewhere exposed like a ute tray or canopy, there is an A329SW with a fully waterproof rear camera built to handle rain and road spray. You keep the same excellent front footage, in a setup that can live outside in the weather.
What accessories should you add to the A329S?
After fitting, selling and supporting these every day, here is what we pair with an A329S.
A CPL filter. A CPL is a polarising lens that cuts reflections off your dashboard and windscreen, the same way polarised sunnies cut glare off water, lifting daytime colour and plate detail. We love that VIOFO included the Front CPL in the package already, but don't forget the rear! The VIOFO CPL-600 is the filter matched to the A329S series, and we will sort the right front and rear option for your setup. Not compatible with the waterproof camera, however.
The right hardwire kit. The A329S was built around the VIOFO HK6 hardwire kit, which unlocks the camera's Hybrid Parking Mode and adds Bluetooth voltage monitoring on top of the usual low-voltage cut-off that protects your battery. It is the correct kit for the A329S, A329SW and A329T.
The right size card. With a 4K 60fps front camera, the A329S writes data fast. A 256GB genuine VIOFO card is the practical minimum at roughly 6 hours, while a 512GB card gets you around 12 hours. For very long trips, the A329S can also record to an external SSD.
SD Card vs. SSD. If you are planning on purchasing the SSD Data Cable and running your own SSD for long-term video storage, just be aware that the SSD will record while driving, but the camera will revert back to the SD card for Parking Mode.
Pro Tip: With a 4K 60fps front camera running around 65 Mbps, the A329S writes a serious amount of data to the memory card every second. Cheap or counterfeit cards cannot keep up and are the leading cause of dropped and corrupted footage we see in the workshop. Because these are high-bitrate cameras, we only recommend a genuine VIOFO high-endurance card. Read our VIOFO microSD card guide to match the right one, or browse the VIOFO compatible memory cards we stock.
Who should buy the A329S?
This is the camera for the driver who wants the latest and the best multi-channel footage, smooth 4K 60fps, a genuinely good rear camera, fast Wi-Fi 6, SSD storage, and smart parking protection. Enthusiasts, rideshare drivers wanting the 3-channel cabin view, and anyone who wants a camera that will not feel dated next year will be sorted. You can compare the front-only, front-and-rear and 3-channel versions in our VIOFO dash cam range.
The verdict
The VIOFO A329S has earned its benchmark reputation and the awards that come with it. Sony STARVIS 2 sensors on every channel, sharp 4K 60fps up front, one of the best rear cameras going, Wi-Fi 6, SSD support, and smarter parking modes add up to a camera that is genuinely ahead of the pack. Pair it with a genuine high-endurance card and it is about as future-proof as a dash cam gets.
Every dash cam we sell is genuine Australian stock from an authorised VIOFO reseller, ships from Melbourne, and is backed by local support and warranty, so you are never chasing an overseas seller if you need a hand. This review was last updated in June 2026.
