How to Fix the WolfBox G900 Rear Camera Blue Tint Issue
Noticed the rear camera on your WolfBox G900 suddenly washing everything in a heavy blue or cyan colour, usually late in the afternoon or around golden hour? It looks alarming, like the camera has developed a fault straight out of the box. Take a breath, because in almost every case your WolfBox G900 rear camera is doing exactly what it is designed to do. That blue tint is a white balance quirk, not a broken sensor, and you can sort it yourself in a couple of minutes.
We spent a week at The Dash Cam Guys watching a single WolfBox G900 in one sedan to track this down. The colour cast comes from a conflict between how the camera measures light and how it crops the image. Once that clicks, the fix is simple. Here is what is going on and how to put it right today.
Why is your WolfBox G900 rear camera going blue?
Smart mirror cameras like the WolfBox G900 build the picture you see in two stages, and the blue tint hides in the gap between them.
The first stage is digital cropping. When you swipe up or down on the mirror to tilt your rear view, you are not tilting the actual lens. The camera just slides a smaller crop window around across the full image sensor, which is the light-sensing chip sitting behind the lens. The lens itself stays exactly where you mounted it.
The second stage is white balance, the setting that decides what counts as neutral white in a scene so every other colour looks natural. The camera works this out with a feature called Auto White Balance, or AWB, which simply means the camera judges the colour of the light for you instead of you setting it by hand. The catch is that AWB reads light from the whole physical sensor, not just the cropped slice showing on your screen.
What that looks like in a real car
In a lot of sedan installs, the camera body ends up angled down so it points at the boot or the rear parcel shelf, and the driver then swipes the on-screen view back up to the road. The lens is now physically staring at your grey interior trim while the screen shows you the road behind.
Late in the day, roughly between 4pm and 5pm, that parcel shelf drops into warm shadow. AWB looks at all that neutral grey trim sitting in warm light, decides the whole scene is too warm, and swings hard the other way by pushing heavy blue right across the footage. Nothing is broken. The camera is just metering off the wrong part of the car.
How do you fix the WolfBox G900 rear camera blue tint?
The fix is to point the physical lens at the scene you actually want it to judge, which is the road, not your interior. It takes two quick adjustments.
Step 1: Level the physical camera angle
Use the included Z-bracket, the small adjustable mount that came in the box, or reposition your existing mount, and line the camera body up level with the horizon. The lens should look straight out the rear window toward the road and sky behind you, not down at the parcel shelf or boot.
Step 2: Re-centre the digital view
On the WolfBox G900 mirror, swipe the screen to bring your vertical crop back to the centre. Because the lens is now aimed at the road, the camera reads its white balance off the actual road, traffic and sky instead of your grey trim.
What you should see afterwards
With the lens centred on the scene behind the car, AWB has proper reference points to work from and the blue cast falls away. Your rear footage goes back to natural colour, which matters, because clear, true-to-life footage is the whole point of running a dash cam as proof if you ever need it.
Pro Tip: clearing demister lines from your rear footage
Pro Tip: while you have the rear camera in your hands, mount the lens as close to the rear glass as you can. Dash cam lenses are focused on infinity with a wide depth of field, which just means everything from a short distance away out to the horizon stays sharp. Sit the lens right against the glass and the demister lines, the thin heating wires baked into your rear window, fall inside the camera's minimum focus distance. They blur out so heavily that they all but vanish from your live view and your recordings.
