Clear Footage Through Tinted Rear Glass. The CPL-300 filter for A229, A139 and T130 rear cameras

Rear cameras have a harder job than front ones. They shoot through tinted glass, past a parcel shelf, often into direct sun, and the reflections stack up. The result is a rear channel that shows shapes but not plates. The CPL-300 cuts that reflected light at the lens, which is the only place it can be removed.

Trusted AU store: We're an authorised AU reseller, shipping from Melbourne within 24 hours*. You get a 12-month warranty on this accessory, local technical support, and our 30-Day No-Worries returns.

Who This Isn't For: This fits the standard rear cameras on the A229 series, A139 series and T130. If your rear camera is an RC320 or RTC420, you need the CPL-600 instead. For the front lens on those same cameras use the CPL-200. Rear cameras also get less light to begin with, so think carefully before adding a filter if you mostly drive at night.

DCG Score & Highlights

What We Love

  • Cuts the reflections that tinted rear glass and a parcel shelf throw back at the lens
  • 38.5 mm threaded mount, so it screws on properly rather than clipping loosely
  • Multi-coated optical glass with a hydrophobic coating that sheds water
  • Covers the A229, A229 Plus, A229 Pro, A139, A139 Pro and T130 rear cameras
  • Adds physical protection to a lens that is awkward to reach and clean

What Could Be Better

  • Rear cameras already work with less light than the front. A CPL takes more away, so night rear footage can suffer.
  • Needs rotating correctly on install, which is fiddly on a rear camera you cannot easily see.
  • Not for RC320 or RTC420 rear cameras, which take the CPL-600.

Why Rear Cameras Need a CPL More Than Front Ones

A front camera looks through clear glass at a fairly consistent scene. A rear camera looks through factory tint, sometimes a heated-element grid, and often straight into low sun. Every one of those adds polarised reflection, and it is why rear channels so often disappoint in daylight despite decent specs. Removing that light optically does more for rear plate capture than any resolution upgrade.

Top Benefits

  • Readable rear plates: Cuts the glare that turns a following car's plate into a bright smear.
  • Handles tinted glass: Reduces the reflections that factory tint bounces back into the lens.
  • Better contrast: Colour and detail hold up when shooting into low sun.
  • Sheds water: The hydrophobic coating keeps the surface clearer in rain.
  • Protects a hard-to-reach lens: Easier to clean or replace than the camera itself.

Upgrade Your Rear Clarity Today

FAQ

  • Will it darken footage at night? → Only slightly—Starvis 2 sensors boost exposure to compensate; remove for unlit rural drives.
  • How do I tune the filter? → With live view preview, rotate until reflections vanish, then secure in place.
  • Is it safe with tinted windows? → Works with up to 40% factory tint; performance may vary on darker limo tints.
