Who This Isn't For: Some vehicles cut power to the OBD-II port once the car is locked, and in those the camera simply stops. If yours does that, or you want true ACC ignition sensing and finer voltage steps, fit the HK4 to the fuse box instead. This one is for lease, company and late-model cars where the wiring has to stay untouched.

Not every vehicle keeps the OBD-II port live after locking, and it varies by make and model. Ask us if you are not sure about yours.
VIOFO lists the OP100 for petrol and diesel vehicles. Hybrid and EV behaviour depends on how the vehicle manages its OBD-II port, so check with us before ordering for one.
It occupies the OBD-II port, so a workshop will need to unplug it or fit a splitter to run diagnostics.

Why the OBD-II Port Is a Legitimate Power Source

Parking mode needs power after the ignition is off, and the usual way to get it is a fuse tap: pull a panel, find a constant-power fuse, add a piggyback and an earth. It works, but it puts your hardware inside someone else's loom, and on a leased or company car that is a problem you inherit at handback. Pin 16 of the OBD-II port is already permanently live, and unlike a fuse slot it was designed to be plugged into and unplugged again. The OP100 draws from there and from the two ground pins, and nothing else. The honest trade-off is that there is no true ACC line, so the cable reads voltage to work out when the car has stopped rather than reading the ignition directly. That makes the switch into parking mode slightly less immediate than a fuse-tapped kit.

FAQ

Q: Will the OP100 trigger a dashboard warning light or an error code? A: No. It draws power from pin 16 and the ground pins only and never communicates with the vehicle's data network, so it cannot set a fault code or interfere with engine management. This is the most common worry we hear, and it comes from OBD-II being far better known as a diagnostics port than as a power source.
Q: Which version do I need, USB Type-C or Mini USB? A: Match it to your camera's power port. Type-C covers the A329S, A329, A229, A139 and T130 Series plus the A119M Pro, A119 Mini 2, VS1 and WM1. Mini USB covers the A119 V3, A129 Duo, A129 Plus and A129 Pro. If you are not certain which port your camera has, send us a photo of it and we will confirm before you order.
Q: Should I use this or hardwire to the fuse box? A: Use the OP100 where the car is leased, under a novated agreement, or new enough that you would rather not touch the loom. Use a fuse-tap kit where you want ignition-accurate ACC switching, adjustable cutoff voltages, or the OBD-II port left free. Both give you parked recording, and they differ in how invasive the install is.
Q: Where is the OBD-II port in my car? A: Usually under the driver-side dashboard near or above the pedals, sometimes behind a small removable cover. The exact position varies by make and model, and your vehicle owner's manual will name it. If the cable then sits awkwardly in the footwell, the included reclosable fasteners let you mount the module out of the way.
Q: Can I still use a scan tool with the OP100 fitted? A: Not at the same time. The OP100 occupies the port, so it has to come out before a scan tool goes in, which takes a couple of seconds. Where a workshop needs regular access, an OBD-II splitter is the permanent answer and lets both sit in the port together. Worth mentioning before a service booking.
Q: Can I use a generic USB cable instead of the included parking mode cable? A: It will power the camera, but many VIOFO models will not enter parking mode on a plain power lead. The supplied cable carries the ACC detection the camera looks for when the ignition goes off. Keep it for parking mode, and use a generic cable only where you just want power while driving.
