Parking Mode Without Opening the Fuse Box. The VIOFO OP100 OBD hardwire kit plugs straight in

Novated lease, company car, or a new vehicle you would rather not start splicing into. The OP100 gives you parked recording without any of that: it plugs into the OBD2 port under the steering column, feeds constant power to the camera, and unplugs without a trace when the car goes back. Pick 3 hours, 24 hours or constant on the switch, and the low-voltage cutoff handles the rest.

Trusted AU store: We're an authorised AU reseller, shipping from Melbourne within 24 hours*. You get a 12-month warranty on this accessory, local technical support, and our 30-Day No-Worries returns.

Who This Isn't For: Some vehicles cut power to the OBD port once locked, and in those the camera simply stops. If yours does that, or you want proper ACC ignition sensing and finer voltage steps, fit the HK4 or HK3-C to the fuse box instead. It also occupies the OBD port, so frequent diagnostics need a splitter.

DCG Score & Highlights

What We Love

  • Genuinely no tools. Plug it into the OBD2 port and route the lead, and you are finished
  • Three timer settings on the plug itself: 3 hours, 24 hours or constant
  • Low-voltage cutoff shuts down within about 90 seconds of detecting a low battery
  • Completely reversible, which is exactly what a lease or company car needs
  • Handles both 12V and 24V vehicles

What Could Be Better

  • Not every vehicle keeps the OBD port live after locking, and that varies by make. Ask us if you are unsure.
  • It takes up the OBD port, so a mechanic will need to unplug it or use a splitter.
  • No true ACC sensing, so mode switching is less immediate than a fuse-tapped kit.

Why an OBD Kit Suits Lease and Company Cars

Fuse-tap installs are the better technical answer, but they involve adding hardware to a car's electrical system, and that is a conversation nobody wants at end of lease. An OBD kit delivers the same constant power through a port designed to be plugged into, and comes out in seconds leaving the vehicle exactly as it was.

Top Benefits

  • Fastest install available: Plug in, route the cable, done. No fuse puller, no multimeter, no trim removal.
  • Choose your window: 3 hours for a shopping centre, 24 hours for an airport run, or constant with voltage protection.
  • Battery safeguarded: Low-voltage cutoff stops the draw before your car will not start.
  • Fully reversible: Nothing modified, nothing to undo, which suits leased and novated vehicles.
  • Works on trucks too: 12V and 24V input covers light commercial vehicles.

FAQ

Q: Will this enable Parking Mode recording? → A: It can, but some dash cam setups require the optional ACC-detection Parking Mode Cable (Type-C or Mini-USB) to properly trigger Parking Mode behaviour. Choose the bundle that matches your dash cam model.

Q: Will it drain my battery? → A: OP100 includes Low Voltage Protection and is designed to shut down if voltage drops below 12/24V, helping protect starting power.

Q: Can I use a generic USB cable? → A: It will power the camera, but many VIOFOs will not enter Parking Mode. Use the VIOFO lead for full functionality.

Q: Is this better than a cigarette lighter plug? → A: If you want a cleaner cabin and more reliable power, yes. It avoids the “loose plug” problem and keeps wiring more discreet.

Q: Is OBD-II safe to use long-term? → A: For most passenger vehicles, yes. Route the cable securely so it won’t interfere with pedals, steering, or driver movement.

Q: Does it replace a hardwire kit? → A: For most users, yes. It delivers driving power plus timed parking power without touching the fuse box.
