Cover the Cabin Without Mounting a Third Camera. The VIOFO T340 3CH records 4K front, 2K cabin and 2K rear, with the infrared cabin lens built into the front body
Here is the catch with most three-channel dash cams: the third channel turns up as a third camera, on its own cable, that you have to find a home for near the mirror. Another lens on the windscreen, another wire to hide, another thing a passenger asks about. The cabin view is worth having. The hardware normally needed to get it is not.
Trusted AU store: We're an authorised Australian reseller, shipping from Melbourne within 24 hours*. You get an 18-month warranty with no product registration required, local technical support, and our 30-Day No-Worries returns.
Who This Isn't For: The cabin lens is built into the main unit, so it films the interior from the windscreen and cannot be aimed or repositioned. If you drive a van or minibus and need the interior camera further back, choose a separate cabin camera model from our 3-channel dash cam range. The T340 3CH suits cars, SUVs, utes, taxis and rideshare where the cabin view starts at the mirror.
DCG Highlights
What We Love
- The infrared cabin camera lives inside the front body, so a three-channel install means two pieces on the glass instead of three, and one cable to the back of the car
- A 210 degree fisheye on the cabin channel, wide enough to take in both front seats and both side windows at once, which is where kerbside disputes actually happen
- Four infrared LEDs on the cabin lens, so it records in a completely dark car without switching the interior light on
- Sony STARVIS 2 sensors front and rear, IMX678 and IMX675, with HDR on all three channels to hold a number plate readable against low sun or headlights
- The rear camera mount rotates through 360 degrees, which matters on a steeply raked rear screen where a fixed mount records half sky
- Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, so a 4K clip lands on your phone in the car park rather than after you get home
- Channels can be merged into a single video file, so an insurer gets one clip showing all three views in sync instead of three files and an explanation
Good to Know
- Parking mode of any kind needs the VIOFO HK6-F hardwire kit, bought separately. The car charger in the box only powers the camera while the engine is running, and cut-off voltage protection comes from the HK6-F rather than the camera.
- No memory card is included. VIOFO's own packing list states the microSD card is sold separately, so order one with the camera. It takes a card up to 512 GB, and three channels at 4K and 2K fill one quickly.
- The cabin channel uses an OmniVision OS04J10 sensor, not a Sony STARVIS 2. The front and rear channels are the STARVIS 2 ones, so the cabin footage is the softest of the three in low light even with the infrared LEDs on.
- There is no screen anywhere on this camera. Setup, playback and settings all happen in the VIOFO Dashcam app over Wi-Fi.
Why a Built-In Cabin Lens Changes the Install, Not Just the Parts Count
A separate cabin camera is the part of a three-channel install that goes wrong most often. On a conventional kit the interior camera is a third module on a short cable, usually about a metre, so it has to live within arm's reach of the front camera anyway. You end up with two bodies side by side on the windscreen, a visible run of cable between them, and a mounting decision that has to clear the mirror, the rain sensor and the driver's sightline at once.
The VIOFO T340 3CH puts the infrared cabin lens in the same housing as the front camera, pointing back through a 210 degree fisheye. The install becomes a two-piece job: the main unit behind the mirror, the rear camera on the back glass, one cable between them. The trade-off is worth stating plainly. You give up the ability to aim the cabin view, because a built-in lens films from wherever the front camera has to sit, and you take the framing that gives you.
Top Benefits
- One less thing on the glass: the cabin camera is built into the front body, so three channels take two mounts and one cable run.
- Evidence from inside, in the dark: a 210 degree infrared fisheye covers both front seats and both side windows with the cabin light off.
- Sharper plates after dark: Sony STARVIS 2 sensors front and rear with HDR on every channel, so detail survives headlights and deep shadow.
- Aim the rear properly: the 360 degree adjustable mount squares the picture up on a raked rear screen instead of filling the frame with sky.
- One clip, not three: merged multi-channel files give an insurer a single synchronised video with no editing at your end.
- Footage off the card in minutes: dual-band Wi-Fi 6 sends 4K files to the VIOFO app without pulling the card.
- Parked cover you can tune: five parking modes, from hybrid recording down to low-power impact detection, so you set the balance between coverage and battery draw.
How It Installs
- Stick the main unit behind the rearview mirror using the supplied static sticker and adhesive pad, then clip the magnetic CPL-700 filter onto the front lens. Check the cabin lens is looking back into the vehicle before you commit the pad.
- Run the 6 metre rear cable down the A-pillar, along the headlining and back to the rear window, tucking it into the trim with the removal tool in the box. Fit the rear camera to the rear glass and rotate the mount until the horizon is level.
- Power it from the supplied 3.5 metre car charger, or from a VIOFO HK6-F hardwire kit if you want the parking modes.
- Fit the infrared cabin camera cover and the tamper-resistant cover with the four screws and the supplied hex key.
- Connect the VIOFO Dashcam app over Wi-Fi to set the resolution combination, parking mode and G-sensor sensitivity.
Allow around an hour for a tidy do-it-yourself run on the car charger, and longer if you are hardwiring. It does involve easing trim panels off to hide the cabling, so use the trim tool rather than a screwdriver and hope.

Fitment and Compatibility
- Vehicles: any car, SUV, ute, van or taxi with a windscreen that will take a behind-the-mirror mount. Nothing about the camera is make or model specific.
- Power: USB-C. The supplied car charger runs from a 12V socket and carries a second fast-charge port for a phone. The HK6-F kit covers 12V and 24V systems.
- Parking mode: requires the VIOFO HK6-F hardwire kit, which is also what provides cut-off voltage protection so the camera stops before it flattens your starter battery.
- Battery packs: works with the VIOFO BP100 and BP60, which run parking mode from their own cells and report charge level over Bluetooth.
- Replacement rear camera: the VIOFO RC420, the same module supplied in the box. It takes the CPL-600 filter if you want less glare through tinted rear glass.
- Remote: VIOFO BTR200 Bluetooth remote, sold separately.
- Not compatible with: the HK6, HK5, HK4 and HK3-C hardwire kits. The T330 and T340 need the HK6-F specifically, so an older VIOFO kit will not carry over. We stock the 6 metre rear cable only, so if your vehicle needs a longer run to the rear glass, contact us on our contact page before you order.
- Australian fitment: right-hand-drive agnostic. The mount is universal and the 210 degree cabin framing is symmetrical, so it covers driver and passenger the same either way round.

FAQ
FAQ
- Q: What is the difference between a 2-channel and a 3-channel dash cam? A: A two-channel records the road ahead and the road behind. A three-channel adds a view of the cabin. The third channel is the one that matters if you carry passengers you do not know, because it covers what happens inside the car rather than on the road. If nothing ever happens inside your vehicle, a two-channel setup covers the same ground for less.
- Q: Is a 3-channel dash cam worth it? A: It is worth it when something regularly happens inside the vehicle. Rideshare and taxi drivers, driving instructors and anyone carrying people they do not know get the most out of the cabin channel, because it is the view that settles a dispute about what was said or done in the car. For a private commuter who only wants proof of a collision, two channels are the sensible buy.
- Q: Will a dash cam reduce my insurance premium? A: Usually not in Australia. Most insurers here do not advertise a dash cam discount, so treat the camera as evidence rather than a saving. What the footage does do is shorten the argument about who was at fault, which can matter for your excess and your claims history. Check with your own insurer before you buy on the strength of a discount.
- Q: Can I switch the cabin camera off when I am not carrying passengers? A: You cannot unplug it, because the cabin lens sits inside the main unit rather than on a separate cable. VIOFO do not publish a documented way to disable the cabin channel on its own, and every recording combination they list includes it. You can mute the microphone independently. If you want the option to run front and rear only, choose a model with a separate cabin camera.
- Q: Do I have to tell passengers I am recording them? A: Check the rules for your state or territory before you switch the cabin camera on. Recording and surveillance laws differ around Australia, and the rules on recording audio are stricter than the rules on video. Many rideshare and taxi drivers display a visible in-car notice, and VIOFO include a warning sticker in the box for that purpose.
- Q: Will my existing VIOFO hardwire kit work with the T340? A: Only if it is an HK6-F. The T330 and T340 use that kit specifically, so an HK6, HK5, HK4 or HK3-C from an earlier VIOFO camera will not carry over. The HK6-F is also what gives you cut-off voltage protection and the battery voltage read-out. The BTR200 remote and the BP100 battery pack do carry over.
- Q: Can I run parking mode without hardwiring the car? A: Yes, with a VIOFO BP100 or BP60 battery pack. The pack powers parking recording from its own cells instead of your starter battery, and the camera reads its charge level over Bluetooth so it stops at a reserve you set. It is the option to take if you park overnight regularly, or if your vehicle's fuse box makes hardwiring awkward.
- Q: What size memory card do I need? A: 256 GB or 512 GB for three channels. One 4K stream plus two 2K streams write a lot of data per hour, so a smaller card loops over quickly and you can lose an older clip before you go looking for it. The camera supports cards up to 512 GB, and VIOFO recommend their own industrial high-endurance range for continuous recording.
