VIOFO T340 Series User Manual & Setup Guide
VIOFO T340 acting up? Lost the booklet? No stress.
The T340 packs a 4K front camera and an infrared cabin camera into one screenless unit behind your mirror, so there's no display to poke at. Setup, aiming and playback all run through the buttons, LEDs and the VIOFO Dashcam app. This guide covers every T340 we sell (3CH, 4CH, TW, W and WW): what's plugged in where, the LED cheat sheet, app pairing, parking mode and the official PDF.
💡 Pro Tip: Sort Parking Mode and the Card Before You Start
The supplied car charger only powers the T340 while the engine runs. Every parking mode, Cut-off Voltage and the battery voltage stamp need VIOFO's HK6-F hardwire kit. The HK6 (for the A329S) and HK4 aren't the kit for this camera. There's also no card in the box, and three or four channels will chew through a cheap one.
Grab the HK6-F Hardwire Kit here (then follow our HK6-F install guide).
Which T340 Do You Have?
Every T340 has the same main unit: a 4K front camera plus a built-in 210 degree infrared fisheye cabin camera. The model letters tell you what else is connected. If your cabin camera is a separate little unit on its own cable, you've got a T330, so use our VIOFO T330 Series guide instead.
| Model | Cameras | Cables in the box (our AU listing) |
|---|---|---|
| T340 3CH | Main unit (4K front + 2K cabin) + 2K rear inside rear glass | 6 m rear |
| T340 4CH | Main unit + 2K telephoto (4x optical) + 2K rear | 1 m telephoto, 6 m rear |
| T340TW 4CH | Main unit + 2K telephoto + 2K waterproof exterior rear | 1 m telephoto, 7.5 m waterproof ("8 m" option) |
| T340W 3CH | Main unit + 2K waterproof exterior rear | 7.5 m waterproof |
| T340WW 4CH | Main unit + two 2K waterproof exterior cameras | 2 x 7.5 m waterproof |
Port rule of thumb: the T340 main unit has an EXT port and a REAR port (the T330 calls the first one INT). The telephoto camera must go in EXT on its 1 m cable. The waterproof camera cable works in either port. Power the camera off before connecting or disconnecting anything.
First-Time Setup
- Insert the card. Push a microSD card (up to 512 GB) into the slot until it clicks, then format it before first use: in the app (Settings > Format) or by holding the Custom button until all the LEDs blink three times (formatting is its default long-press action).
- Mount the main unit behind the rear-view mirror, inside the wiper sweep. Because the cabin lens is in the same body, this one position sets both the road view and the cabin view, so check both in the app before you press the pad on hard. Clip on the magnetic CPL-700 filter.
- Fit the other cameras for your model: the rear camera on rear glass clear of demister lines, the telephoto under the mirror, and waterproof cameras on the outside of the vehicle with the 3M pad or screws.
- Power it up with the car charger in the USB-C power port, or via the HK6-F. It starts recording when the engine starts.
- Pair the app. Short press the Wi-Fi button (LED flashes). Join 5G_VIOFO_T340_XXXX on your phone, password 12345678. The Wi-Fi LED turns solid blue. Open the VIOFO Dashcam app, tap Add Dash Cam and choose your model.
- Aim and set up: use the live view grid, then set Time Zone, Daylight Saving Time, Speed Unit (km/h) and Frequency (50 Hz suits Australian lighting).
- Fit the covers. The infrared cabin camera cover and the tamper-resistant cover (four screws, hex key) go on once every cable is connected.

With no screen, the T340 speaks up instead. Voice Notification (Off / On / Only Critical Alerts) announces problems such as "Please insert a memory card." Voice Control takes commands like "Take Photo", "Video Start", "Lock the Video", "Turn On Wi-Fi" and "Show Both Cameras" in English, Chinese, Russian or Japanese. The front LEDs can be set to all on, REC only or all off, separately for driving and parking.
Recording & Parking Modes
Loop recording starts on its own (1 to 10 minute clips). An impact or a press of Video Protect locks the clip into \DCIM\Movie\RO, and locked files can use up to 30% of the card. Two T340-specific things to know: while driving, HDR can only run on the front camera plus one other channel (rear, cabin or exterior), and in parking mode the telephoto camera switches itself off if the unit hits 108°C, coming back when you leave parking mode or restart. In a four-channel setup the resolution is 4K + 2K + 2K + 2K.
With the HK6-F fitted, you get five parking modes: Hybrid Parking Recording (time-lapse, low bitrate or event detection first, then impact detection once your Cut-off Time, Cut-off Voltage or battery pack capacity is reached), Low Power Impact Detection (wakes in about 2 seconds and records 1 minute), Low Bitrate, Auto Event Detection and Time-lapse (1/2/3/5/10 fps, Super Night Vision at 1 fps). Hybrid needs a cut-off set before it becomes available. Geofencing lets you set up to three zones where the camera powers off instead of watching. Park outdoors in summer? VIOFO recommends time-lapse, and turning the camera off if the cabin tops 60°C. The BP100 or BP60 battery pack can power parking mode so your car battery isn't touched.
Firmware Updates
- Check the current version in the app (Settings > Version Number > Firmware).
- Download the latest T340 firmware from VIOFO's Firmware & Manual page at viofo.com.
- Format the card in the camera, copy the .bin file to the root of the card with its name unchanged, and power the camera on with the card in.
- Don't unplug or turn off the camera during the update. Settings may reset to defaults, so re-check parking mode, HDR and time zone afterwards.

Common Questions & Troubleshooting
Why is my cabin footage in black and white?
The infrared LEDs are on. Set Infrared LED to Auto in Video Settings and the camera decides when it needs them. "On" forces infrared (black and white) all the time.
I turned on HDR for every camera but it won't stick.
That's by design on the T340. While recording, HDR runs on the front camera plus one other channel only. Pick the channel where glare matters most, usually the rear or exterior camera.
The REC light is flashing red.
It isn't recording. Check the card is inserted, format it in the app, and if it keeps happening, replace it with a high-endurance card.
The telephoto or rear camera isn't showing.
Power off, re-seat the cable, and check the telephoto is in the EXT port. Then check Front Tele Cam, Rear Cam or Exterior Cam isn't set to Off (or "Only On while Parking") in Video Settings.
My phone keeps dropping the camera's Wi-Fi.
The camera's network has no internet, so tell your phone to stay connected and pause any VPN. Try swapping Wi-Fi Frequency between 5 GHz (VIOFO's recommendation) and 2.4 GHz, and stay within about 10 m.
Parking mode or the voltage stamp isn't working.
Check you're on the HK6-F, then set a Cut-off Time or Cut-off Voltage so Hybrid mode unlocks. Swapped to a different HK6-F? Reset the camera to defaults (Settings > Reset Camera Settings) so it pairs with the new kit.
