Will the Wolfbox G900 Drain My Battery? Internal Bench Test Results & Low Voltage Cutoff
Wolfbox G900 & TriPro OBD Hardwire Kit (WBH40O) | Technical Stress Test & Power Draw Data
We don't just sell dash cameras; we thoroughly test our range so that we can be the specialists you deserve when you call or email us for advice. This post contains our internal raw data. Whether you are a DIY enthusiast or just want to see the depths we go to for testing, we hope this helps.

Cut-Off & Low Voltage Protection
This kit features a built-in voltage cutoff sensor. It detects when your car battery drops to 11.8V and automatically kills power to the camera. That 11.8V figure is WOLFBOX's own published specification.
Power Draw & Recording Modes
We bench-tested the Wolfbox G900 V2 to see exactly how much power it pulls while driving vs. parked. The figures below are from one unit paired with one WBH40O kit:
| Mode | Current (Amps) | Power (Watts) |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Driving (1-CH) | 0.63A | ~8W |
| Time-Lapse Parking | 0.31A | ~3.8W |
| Impact Parking Mode | 0.004A | <0.1W |
G-Sensor Parking Mode
In this state, the unit essentially shuts down to an ultra-low-power state at just 0.004A. Only the G-sensor stays awake. If it detects an impact, it wakes the unit and records for 20 seconds before returning to sleep.

About these figures. Every reading on this page is our own bench measurement on a single WOLFBOX G900 V2 paired with a single WBH40O kit, not a manufacturer figure and not an average across multiple units. Your own results will vary with the state of your battery, the vehicle and the ambient temperature. Where we quote a WOLFBOX specification, such as the 11.8V cut-off, it is identified as theirs.
