Technical Overview: WBH40O Kit

  • Compatibility: 12V (Cars) / 24V (Trucks & Vans)
  • Output: 5V at 4A
  • Working Temps: -30C to 70C
  • Connection: Pin #16 (Constant B+) and Pin #4 (Ground)

Cut-Off & Low Voltage Protection

This kit features a built-in voltage cutoff sensor. It detects when your car battery drops to 11.8V and automatically kills power to the camera. That 11.8V figure is WOLFBOX's own published specification.

Technical Note: On the single kit we tested, we saw a tolerance of about +-0.3V, and in one bench run the unit shut down at 12.1V rather than the published 11.8V. That is one observation from one kit, not an average across units, so treat it as a tolerance we happened to see rather than a specification. It still matters if your battery is older, because the 11.8V threshold is fixed and cannot be adjusted on this kit.

Power Draw & Recording Modes

We bench-tested the Wolfbox G900 V2 to see exactly how much power it pulls while driving vs. parked. The figures below are from one unit paired with one WBH40O kit:

G-Sensor Parking Mode

In this state, the unit essentially shuts down to an ultra-low-power state at just 0.004A. Only the G-sensor stays awake. If it detects an impact, it wakes the unit and records for 20 seconds before returning to sleep.
