WOLFBOX RP01 Hardwire Kit User Manual & Setup Guide

WOLFBOX RP01 Hardwire Kit User Manual & Setup Guide

WOLFBOX RP01 Hardwire Kit playing up? Lost the booklet? No stress.

You've grabbed the standard WOLFBOX RP01 fuse-tap kit to get parking mode going on your G900, G850, G840S, G930, X3, WOLFBOX X5 dash cam or WOLFBOX i07 dash cam, and now there's a bundle of coloured wires in your lap. Here's the wiring cheat sheet, the specs, the cut-off switch settings and the fixes for the most common parking mode headaches, all checked against WOLFBOX's own manual.

💡 Pro Tip: Find the Right Fuses First

The kit is only as good as the fuses you tap. Use a test light to confirm which fuses stay live with the car off and which switch with the ignition, before anything gets plugged in.

Quick Specs: Is This the Right Kit?

This kit covers the G900, G850, G840S, G840H, G930, X3, X5 and i07. It does not suit the G900 Pro or G900 TriPro. Those draw more and need the WOLFBOX WBH40 4A hardwire kit. It's an easy mistake to make, so double-check your model.

  • Model: RP01 (printed on the control box label)
  • Input: DC 12V to 24V vehicles
  • Output: 5V via a right-angle USB-C plug (label: DC 5V 2500mA)
  • Working temperature: -30°C to 70°C (-22°F to 158°F)
  • Low-voltage protection: adjustable with a switch: 12.4V / 12.0V / 11.6V on 12V vehicles, 24.4V / 24.0V / 23.6V on 24V vehicles
  • Display: digital readout showing your cut-off setting and live battery voltage
  • Cable length: 3.5m
  • In the box: hardwire cable plus four types of fuse tap adapter, two sets (the manual lists ATO, MiniACN and Micro2)

Good to know: the X3, X5 and i07 don't include a hardwire kit in the box, so this kit is what gets parked recording working on those models.

Which Wire Goes Where (Read This Twice)

Heads up if you've wired a VIOFO before: WOLFBOX colours are the other way around. Yellow is constant power (B+) and Red is ACC (ignition).

Wire Connects To WOLFBOX Fuse Guidance What It Does
Yellow (B+) Constant power fuse A fuse that stays live with the ignition off, such as appliances or reading lights (WOLFBOX calls it a "12V-30V rated power fuse") Powers the camera, including while parked
Red (ACC) Ignition-switched (ACC) fuse A fuse that's only live with the ignition on Signals driving vs parked
Black (GND) Under a metal bolt or screw on the car n/a Earth. Never plastic.

Installation Steps

  1. Turn the car off and take the key out before you start, to avoid a short while you work.
  2. Find your fuses. Using the fuse box diagram, test the fuse panel with a circuit tester or multimeter to find an ACC fuse (live only with the ignition on) and a constant fuse (still live with the ignition off). Stay away from safety-critical fuses such as airbags/SRS, ABS and fuel pump.
  3. Crimp the Red and Yellow wires onto the add-a-fuse taps, choosing the tap that matches your car's fuse size.
  4. Connect it up: Yellow into the constant fuse slot, Red into the ACC fuse slot, and fix the Black ground wire under a metal bolt or screw.
  5. Set the cut-off voltage with the switch on the control box (see the table below).
  6. Test before tidying. Plug the USB-C into the camera and start the car: the camera should power on. Turn the car off and remove the key: the camera should turn off or enter parking mode. Some cars need the driver's door opened, a short wait or the car locked before ACC drops out. Then restart the car and check the camera goes back to recording normally.
  7. Once it all checks out, route the cable up the A-pillar and along the headliner to the camera, tucked behind trim and clear of airbags, and turn on parking mode in the camera's settings.

Voltage Cut-Off Settings (The Important Bit)

Slide the switch from left to right to step the protection voltage down. On a 24V vehicle the same positions give the 24V values.

Switch Position 12V Batteries (Cars/Utes) 24V Batteries (Trucks)
Left 12.4V 24.4V
Middle 12.0V 24.0V
Right 11.6V 23.6V

Reading the display: every time you move the switch, the screen first shows the cut-off you've just set, then within 2 seconds switches to your car battery's current voltage. When the battery drops to your set level, the kit stops powering the dash cam within five minutes. WOLFBOX quotes a display tolerance of ±0.2V, which doesn't affect the protection itself.

Common Questions & Troubleshooting

WOLFBOX's wiring check is simple: with Red on ACC, Yellow on B+ and Black on ground, both driving and parking mode work normally. Anything else shows up as one of the problems below.

The camera won't go into parking mode.

If driving is fine but parking fails, WOLFBOX says the Red and Yellow wires are swapped. Also check the battery isn't already at your cut-off setting (flick the switch and read the display), that parking mode is switched on in the camera settings, and that your car actually drops ACC when switched off. WOLFBOX notes some vehicles don't provide an ACC signal change, and parking functions may not work properly in those cars.

The camera shuts off the moment I turn the car off.

The Yellow wire is on an ACC fuse (or the wires are swapped). Move Yellow to a constant fuse. If your car needs the door opened or the car locked to drop ACC, give it that before you decide it's not working.

It records normally the whole time I'm parked.

The Red wire is on a constant fuse, so the camera never sees the ignition go off. Move it to a switched fuse.

The camera won't power on at all.

WOLFBOX lists two causes: the Yellow (B+) wire isn't connected to a live constant fuse, or the Black ground isn't connected properly. Check the ground is under a bare metal bolt, not plastic or paint.

The camera seems stuck in parking mode.

WOLFBOX's advice is to restart the car, which should bring the camera back to normal recording. If it keeps happening, contact us for support.

Will it flatten my battery?

The cut-off is designed to stop that on a healthy battery. If your car sits for days or the battery is ageing, use the 12.4V setting, keep an eye on it, or look at a dash cam battery pack.

I don't want to touch the fuse box.

The WOLFBOX OBD01 OBD hardwire kit suits the same cameras, has the same cut-off switch settings, and plugs into the OBD-II port instead.
