Parking Mode Without Touching the Fuse Box. The Vantrue VP04 plugs into your OBD-II port and powers up

Not everyone wants to be under the dash with a fuse puller and a multimeter. The VP04 clicks into the OBD-II port under your steering column, feeds a steady 5V over USB-C, and shows live battery voltage on its inline LED module. Set a cut-off level and it looks after the battery while keeping your Vantrue watching the car. It is the fastest way to get parked recording working, and no tools are involved.

Trusted AU store: We're an authorised AU reseller, shipping from Melbourne within 24 hours*. You get a 12-month warranty on this accessory, local technical support, and our 30-Day No-Worries returns.

Who This Isn't For: Some vehicles cut power to the OBD port once the car is locked, and in those the VP04 simply will not keep recording. If yours is one of them, or if you want proper ignition sensing and finer voltage tuning, fit a fuse-tap kit instead: the VP05 for a voltage display, or the VP01 for five levels and a timer.

DCG Score & Highlights

What We Love

  • Genuinely plug-and-play. No fuse taps, no multimeter, no trim removal
  • LED readout shows live voltage and your selected cut-off
  • Selectable low-voltage protection across 12V and 24V systems
  • Clean 3 m run, enough to reach the windscreen tidily in most cars
  • USB-C output matches current Vantrue cameras and other USB-C dash cams
  • Fully reversible, so nothing about your vehicle wiring is altered

What Could Be Better

  • It occupies the OBD port, so regular diagnostics will need a splitter or an unplug.
  • No true ACC sensing, so mode switching is less immediate than a fuse-tap kit.
  • It will not work in vehicles that power down the OBD port after locking, and that varies by make.

Why Parking Protection Matters

Most bumps, scrapes and trolley strikes happen when nobody is in the car. A dependable power source keeps your dash cam ready for motion, impact and time-lapse capture while you are away, and low-voltage cut-off preserves enough charge to start the car when you get back. Without constant power, your camera is only watching while you are already watching.

Top Benefits

  • Fastest install of any kit we stock: Plug into OBD-II, route the slim lead, done. No tools.
  • Battery-smart cut-off: Pick a protection level and the cable stops drawing power before the battery gets too low.
  • At-a-glance status: The LED shows current battery voltage and your selected threshold.
  • Smoother parked recording: A consistent 5V feed keeps buffered events, motion triggers and time-lapse working properly.
  • Completely reversible: Unplug it and the car is exactly as it was, which suits leased and novated vehicles.

Compatibility

USB-C Vantrue models including N5, N4 Pro, N4, N2 Pro 2023, N2S, N2X, X4S, S1 Pro, S2 2-CH and 3-CH, E1, E1 Lite, E2, E3, E360 and E360 ACE, plus other USB-C dash cams. If you are unsure, message us and we will confirm fitment for your vehicle and camera.

Upgrade Your Parking Protection Today

Add the Vantrue VP04 to your cart for a no-tools install that keeps your camera watching while parked. Pair it with a high-endurance microSD card, since parked recording produces a lot of event files. Compare the fuse-tap alternatives in our hardwire kits collection. Ships from Melbourne within 24 hours*, covered by our 30-Day No-Worries returns.

FAQ

  • Q: Does it enable Parking Mode?A: Yes. It provides constant power so Parking Mode works on compatible cameras with the engine off, provided your vehicle keeps the OBD port powered after locking.
  • Q: How do I know if my car powers the OBD port when locked?A: Most do, but it varies by make and model. Message us with your vehicle and we will tell you what we have seen, or fit a fuse-tap kit to remove the doubt entirely.
  • Q: Will it drain my battery?A: No. Select a cut-off level and the cable stops drawing power at that threshold to protect the battery.
  • Q: Can I still use my OBD port?A: The cable occupies the port while installed. Use an OBD splitter, or unplug it temporarily for diagnostics.
  • Q: Is this better than a fuse-tap hardwire kit?A: It is far faster to install and ideal for leased cars or anyone who does not want to touch the wiring. If your vehicle sleeps the OBD port, or you want ignition sensing and finer voltage control, choose the VP05 or VP01.
  • Q: What's in the box?A: The VP04 OBD to USB-C power cable with its inline LED module, and a user guide.
