See Exactly What Your Battery Is Doing. Vantrue VP05 hardwire kit with a live voltage readout

Leave the car at the station without wondering. The VP05 keeps your dash cam powered for motion and impact events, then cuts power at the threshold you set so the starter battery stays healthy. What sets it apart from the other kits is the screen: live voltage on the module itself, which makes install day faster and makes diagnosing a flat battery months later far less of a guessing game.

Trusted AU store: We're an authorised AU reseller, shipping from Melbourne within 24 hours*. You get a 12-month warranty on this accessory, local technical support, and our 30-Day No-Worries returns.

Who This Isn't For: If your dash cam does not take 5V over USB-C, or does not support ACC-based Parking Mode switching, this is not the right kit. If you want a parking timer as well as voltage protection, step up to the VP01. If you would rather avoid the fuse box altogether, the VP04 OBD cable plugs straight in.

DCG Score & Highlights

What We Love

  • Live voltage display on the module, which no other Vantrue fuse-tap kit gives you
  • Three selectable low-voltage cut-off levels to protect the starter battery
  • USB-C output suits modern single, dual and triple-channel cameras
  • 12-24V input covers cars, utes and light trucks
  • ACC lead switches the camera to Parking Mode the moment the ignition goes off
  • Tidy 3.5 m run, enough for a clean A-pillar route in most vehicles

What Could Be Better

  • Only three voltage steps, so fine-tuning is limited compared with the VP01's five.
  • No timer mode, so it protects by voltage alone rather than by hours parked.
  • Fuse taps are not included, and you will need the right style for your car's fuse box.

Why Parking Protection Matters

Real parked coverage needs three things: constant 5V power, ACC sensing so the camera knows whether you are driving or parked, and proper battery safeguarding so the car still starts. A purpose-built hardwire kit delivers all three. The cigarette socket delivers none of them, because it dies with the ignition.

Top Benefits

  • Battery-safe operation: Three cut-off voltages so the camera powers down before cranking becomes a struggle.
  • Faster troubleshooting: The on-module voltage readout confirms you have tapped the right fuses at a glance.
  • Modern USB-C compatibility: Clean regulated 5V output up to 2.5 A for current USB-C dash cams.
  • Instant mode switching: Dedicated ACC, B+ and GND leads let compatible cameras enter Parking Mode automatically.
  • Fits more vehicles: Works with 12V and 24V systems, from small hatches to light commercials.

FAQ

  • Q: Will this work with non-Vantrue cameras?A: Yes, if your camera takes 5V via USB-C and supports Parking Mode triggered by ACC/B+ signals.
  • Q: Do I need fuse taps?A: Yes, and they are not included. Choose the correct style for your car's fuse box (ATO, Mini, Micro2 and so on). We can supply them or advise which you need.
  • Q: Which cut-off level should I use?A: Start with the middle value. If you do short trips or leave the car parked for days, pick the higher cut-off to be gentler on the battery.
  • Q: Does it include a timer?A: No. It protects by voltage only. If you want time-based shutoff as well, choose the VP01.
  • Q: OBD or hardwire?A: OBD is quicker to fit but often lacks true ACC sensing. Hardwiring with the VP05 provides ACC, so compatible cameras switch modes instantly.
  • Q: How is this different from the VP01?A: The VP05 adds a live voltage display and keeps things simple with three cut-off levels. The VP01 drops the display but adds five levels plus a parking timer.
