Parking mode needs the VIOFO HK4 hardwire kit, sold separately. The included car charger powers it while you drive.
HDR and 60fps do not run together. Switch HDR on and the camera records at 30fps.

Why Does a Small Dash Cam Matter?

A dash cam is only useful if it is still in the car and recording when something happens. Larger cameras sit in plain view through the windscreen, which makes them a target in a public car park and a distraction in your own field of view.

The A119 Mini 2 avoids both problems by living behind the mirror. Once it is fitted, you can leave it there. The trade-off is scope. A camera this size has room for one lens, so it records the road ahead and nothing behind. If rear-end crashes worry you more than a clean install, a two-channel camera is the better buy.

How Does the VIOFO A119 Mini 2 Install?

Clean the glass behind the rear-view mirror and fit one of the windscreen static stickers from the box.
Slide the camera onto the GPS mount and press the mount onto the sticker, then angle the lens so the bonnet sits along the bottom of the picture.
Tuck the power lead into the headlining and down the pillar with the trim tool, then plug it into the 12V socket with the included car charger.
Insert and format a microSD card, then pair the VIOFO app to set the time, GPS and parking options.

The plug-in route needs nothing beyond the trim tool. Hardwiring with the HK4 means finding a switched and a constant fuse. If fitment is a barrier, see the note below on finding a local installer.

Q: Does the A119 Mini 2 record a rear camera? A: No. It is a front-only camera and has no port for a rear camera. If you think you will want rear footage later, start with a two-channel model such as the VIOFO A229 Plus 2CH, because the Mini 2 cannot be upgraded.
Q: Is the A119 Mini 2 a replacement for the A119 V3? A: For most buyers, yes. It adds a newer Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, 60fps recording and Wi-Fi, which the V3 does not have. The two use different GPS mounts, so a V3 mount will not fit the Mini 2. We cover the differences in our A119 V3 article.
Q: Which hardwire kit do I need for parking mode? A: The VIOFO HK4 USB-C hardwire kit, which is the kit VIOFO lists for the A119 Mini 2. It powers the camera from the fuse box when the car is off and cuts power before the battery drops too low.
Q: What size memory card should I get? A: A 128GB VIOFO Industrial card is the sweet spot for a single 2K channel, holding about 11 hours before it loops over the oldest clips. Step up to 256GB for about 22 hours. Use a high-endurance card, because cheap cards are the most common cause of lost footage.
Q: Should I record at 60fps or with HDR? A: 60fps gives smoother footage and more frames to pause on a passing car in daylight. HDR balances bright headlights against darker plates at night, but runs at 30fps. If most of your driving is after dark, leave HDR on. For daytime highway runs, 60fps is the better pick.
