Good to Know

• Parking mode of any kind needs the VIOFO HK6-F hardwire kit, bought separately. Without it the camera only records while the car is running.
• Turning HDR on drops the front channel from 4K 60 fps to 4K 30 fps. You choose one or the other, you do not get both at once.
• The front unit has a cabin camera port, but no cabin camera is included and adding one does not turn this into a 3-channel camera. The T330 3CH is a separate model.
• No microSD card is included. The camera takes a card up to 512 GB and VIOFO recommends one of their own industrial cards.
• Every setting, every live preview and every download happens in the VIOFO Dashcam app. If you would rather not use a phone app, this is the wrong camera.

Why 60 Frames Per Second Changes What You Can Read Off a Number Plate

A dash cam recording 4K at 30 fps captures one still image every 33 milliseconds. A car crossing your field of view at 60 km/h travels about half a metre in that time, so the plate smears and you get motion blur on the exact characters you need. That is why so many 4K clips look sharp on a parked car and turn to mush the moment something moves. Recording the same 4K at 60 fps halves the gap between frames, which halves the distance the subject travels during each exposure, so you get twice as many frames of the event and better odds that one of them froze the plate cleanly. The trade-off is worth stating plainly: 60 fps doubles the data rate, so the same card holds about half as much footage, and you cannot run 60 fps and HDR together.

What's the Difference Between the T330 2CH and the A329S 2CH

If you want a screen or external SSD storage, the A329S is the better buy. If you want the camera out of sight, the T330 is.

How It Installs

1. Stick the front camera to the windscreen behind the rearview mirror using the supplied mount and one of the static stickers, then clip the CPL-700 filter onto the lens.
2. Mount the rear camera inside the rear windscreen and run the 6 metre coaxial cable down the A-pillar and along the headlining, using the trim removal tool in the box to tuck it out of sight. Rotate the rear camera on its mount until the horizon sits level.
3. Plug the 3.5 metre car charger into a 12 V socket for a basic install, or fit the VIOFO HK6-F hardwire kit to the fuse box if you want parking mode. Budget around 45 to 90 minutes for a tidy job, longer on a car with fiddly trim.
4. Fit the tamper-resistant cover with the four screws and hex key, then pair the camera to the VIOFO Dashcam app over Wi-Fi to set resolution, HDR, parking mode and voice control.
