Who This Isn't For: The third channel here is a forward telephoto, not a cabin camera, so it records nothing inside the vehicle. If you drive rideshare, taxi or a work vehicle where you need the cabin on record, buy the VIOFO A329TC 3CH instead, which swaps the rear channel for a 210 degree infrared cabin camera. Check Before You Order

• Rear cable length is fixed at 6 metres on this listing. That is the standard run for a sedan, hatch, wagon or small SUV. A dual cab with a canopy, a van, a bus or a caravan generally needs more, so talk to us first rather than ordering and hoping.
• Parking mode needs a hardwire kit, sold separately. The camera ships with a cigarette-socket car charger, which powers it while the engine runs and nothing more. The VIOFO HK6-F is the kit built for the T330 and T340 platform. Browse our hardwire kits.

Why Optical Zoom Beats a Sharper Wide Lens

Optical zoom wins because it spends the sensor on a smaller piece of the road. A normal front dash cam spreads its pixels across a 140 degree view, so a number plate sixty metres away lands on a handful of them and no amount of resolution recovers the characters. The T330T's telephoto camera looks through a 35 degree lens instead, concentrating a full 2K frame on the narrow strip directly ahead, which is where the vehicle you are following actually sits. The result is a plate that is legible while the car is still well in front of you, rather than one that only becomes readable when it is close enough for motion blur to ruin it.

The trade-off is honest and worth stating. A 35 degree lens sees very little to the sides, so the telephoto channel on its own would miss a car merging into your door. That is why it runs alongside the 4K wide front camera rather than replacing it: the wide lens holds the context, the telephoto holds the identification.

How It Installs

1. Mount the front camera high on the windscreen behind the rear-view mirror, then clip the telephoto camera alongside it on its 1 metre cable.
2. Run the 6 metre rear cable along the headlining and down the rear pillar, using the supplied trim removal tool. The rear camera head rotates a full 360 degrees, so it levels to whatever angle the glass sits at.
3. Power it from the supplied car charger for a trial run, confirm all three views in the VIOFO app, then fit the tamper-resistant cover and its four screws with the supplied hex key.
4. For parked recording, swap the car charger for a hardwire kit wired to the fuse box. Allow around two hours for a tidy three-camera hardwired install, and expect to remove interior trim panels.
