VIOFO HK6, HK6-A and HK6-F: Which Hardwire Kit Fits Your VIOFO
VIOFO used to make this easy: one hardwire kit, one plug. Now there are whopping seven in total! and with the new T330, T340 and A149 Pro Duo each getting its own new HK6 variant, it is easy to buy the wrong one. The good news is that the right kit is decided almost entirely by your camera, not your car.
This guide matches every current VIOFO hardwire kit to the cameras VIOFO lists for it, explains what the HK6 family adds, and covers the connector difference that affects how clean your cable run looks. If you are new to hardwiring altogether, our brand-agnostic guide to which dash cam hardwire kit fits covers Vantrue and WOLFBOX too. The cameras themselves are all in our range of VIOFO dash cams in Australia.
Which VIOFO hardwire kit fits my camera?
Find your camera in the right-hand column. Compatibility below is taken from VIOFO's own product listings and spec sheets.
| Kit | Camera plug | Cameras VIOFO lists it for |
|---|---|---|
| Mini HK3 | Mini-USB | A119 V3, A129 Duo, A129 Duo IR, A129 Plus Duo, A129 Pro Duo |
| HK3-C | USB-C | A139 and A139 Pro (1CH, 2CH and 3CH) |
| HK4 | USB-C | A119 Mini 2, A229 Plus, A229 Pro, A229 Ultra, A329, T130, WM1. Also runs the basic parking modes on the A329S series and the A119M Pro, but does not offer Low Power Parking Mode. |
| HK5 | USB-C | VS1 |
| HK6 | USB-C | A329S series, A229 Pro, A229 Plus, A119M Pro. The A229 Ultra and A119M Pro spec sheets list both HK4 and HK6; on the A119M Pro the HK6 is the pick because it adds Hybrid Parking Mode. |
| HK6-A | USB-C | A149 Pro Duo only |
| HK6-F | USB-C | T330 and T340 series only |
If your camera appears against two kits, the HK6 is the one that does more. The next two sections explain exactly what.
What does every VIOFO hardwire kit do?
All seven kits share the same basics, according to VIOFO:
- Three wires: constant power, switched (ACC) power and an earth, so the camera knows when the engine is off and switches to parking mode by itself.
- Four voltage cut-off options: when the battery drops to the level you pick, the kit stops powering the camera so you can still start the car.
- 12V and 24V input: the same kit suits a hatchback, a ute or a truck.
VIOFO does not publish the actual cut-off voltages on its listings, so we have not quoted them here. They are printed on the kit and in its manual.
What does the HK6 family add?
The HK6, HK6-A and HK6-F go further than the older kits in four ways VIOFO lists:
- Hybrid Parking Mode on the matched cameras. The camera starts in normal parking recording, then drops to Low Power Impact Detection once a cut-off point is reached, so you get longer cover from the same battery.
- Battery voltage on your footage. An always-on Bluetooth broadcast sends the car's battery voltage to the camera, which stamps it on the video. No pairing needed.
- Detachable input and output cables. A damaged section can be replaced without pulling the whole run out from behind the trim.
- Very low draw when the camera is off: VIOFO rates all three at 300uA or less.
If you have an A329S, VIOFO's own guidance is clear: the HK4 will run the basic parking modes (auto event detection, time-lapse and low bitrate) with cut-off time protection, but Low Power Impact Detection, cut-off voltage protection and the Bluetooth voltage display need the HK6.
HK6 vs HK6-A vs HK6-F: what is actually different?
| HK6 | HK6-A | HK6-F | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Built for | A329S series (also A229 Plus, A229 Pro, A119M Pro) | A149 Pro Duo | T330 and T340 series |
| Hybrid Parking switches on | Cut-off time or cut-off voltage | Cut-off time, cut-off voltage or battery pack capacity | Cut-off time, cut-off voltage or battery pack capacity |
| VIOFO's standby figure in Low Power Impact Detection | 0.24W (tested on A329S 3CH) | 0W, the camera switches off and the kit keeps watch (tested on A149 Pro Duo) | 0.39W (tested on T330 3CH) |
| Plug at the camera | Right-angle USB-C | Straight USB-C | Right-angle USB-C |
The battery pack option on the HK6-A and HK6-F matters if you pair either camera with a VIOFO battery pack. Parking recording can end at a reserve level you choose, rather than only on time or voltage. Our BP60 vs BP100 comparison covers which pack suits which setup.
Why the plug shape matters
This is the detail most people only notice at install time. On units we have handled, the standard HK6 and the HK6-F both have a right-angled USB-C plug, while the HK6-A has a straight-through plug. The straight plug on the HK6-A makes for a cleaner-looking cable run from the A149 Pro Duo up into the headlining, without a loop of cable sitting beside the camera. Neither shape is better in every car, but it is worth knowing before you plan where the lead runs.
Can I use one VIOFO kit on a different camera?
Sometimes, but it is rarely worth it. The plug will fit any USB-C VIOFO, yet the features are tied to the camera. An HK6-A or HK6-F is a model-specific part, and a generic USB-C kit on a T330, T340 or A149 Pro Duo will not give you the Hybrid Parking Mode those cameras were designed around. Buy the kit VIOFO lists for your camera.
Update, September 2026: VIOFO has since posted on Reddit that the HK4 can be used on both the T330 and the T340, and it does work. The catch is the tamper-resistant cover included in those camera packages. The HK4 plug is too large to fit underneath it, so you lose the cover if you go that way. The smaller connector on the new HK6-F is the reason that kit exists. If you want to use the tamper-resistant cover, or you want Hybrid Parking Mode, the HK6-F is still the kit to buy.
How should I set the cut-off?
Two VIOFO recommendations people often get backwards:
- On the HK6: VIOFO says to set the physical slide switch to its lowest option and use the Cut-off Voltage setting in the camera or app for fine control. If the hardware switch is set higher than the software setting, the kit cuts power first.
- On all three HK6 kits: set the camera's Cut-off Voltage slightly higher than the level selected on the cable.

Before you order
- Check your fuse type. If you are not sure, our fuse tap kit covers the common Australian blades.
- Check you have an ACC fuse. Some newer cars, including several EVs, have no switched circuit in the cabin fuse box. Read why parking mode fails when there is no ACC fuse first.
- Know the job. How to hardwire a dash cam in Australia walks through it step by step, and which fuse to tap covers finding the right two slots.
- Rather not touch the fuse box? See our VIOFO OP100 OBD-II cable guide and check it suits your camera before buying.
Common questions
Is the HK6-A just an HK6 with a different plug?
No. VIOFO lists the HK6-A for the A149 Pro Duo only and the HK6 for the A329S series, A229 Plus, A229 Pro and A119M Pro. The HK6-A also adds battery pack capacity as a Hybrid Parking trigger. Buy the one listed for your camera.
Do VIOFO hardwire kits work in 24V trucks?
Yes. VIOFO rates the HK3, HK3-C, HK4, HK5 and all three HK6 kits for 12V to 24V input.
Which VIOFO hardwire kit do I need for the T330 or T340?
The HK6-F. It is the only kit VIOFO lists for both series. VIOFO has said on Reddit that an HK4 will also work on these cameras, but its larger plug will not fit under the tamper-resistant cover supplied in the box. Our T330 and T340 guide covers the cameras themselves.
Which kit suits the A149 Pro Duo?
The HK6-A. The A149 Pro Duo vs A129 Pro Duo comparison explains why the kit changed along with the camera.
Will hardwiring void my new car warranty?
Not automatically. We cover the Australian position in will a dash cam void my car warranty.

Last reviewed: 21 September 2026. Compatibility, features and standby figures come from VIOFO's own product listings for each kit, and the standby figures are VIOFO's tests on the camera named. The note about the HK4 working on the T330 and T340, and its plug not fitting under the supplied tamper-resistant cover, comes from VIOFO's own posts on Reddit. The plug shapes for the HK6, HK6-A and HK6-F are from units we have handled; VIOFO does not publish them. VIOFO does not list cut-off voltages or HK6-A and HK6-F cable lengths, so we have not quoted any.
