VIOFO BP60 Battery Pack User Manual & Setup Guide

VIOFO BP60 acting up? Lost the booklet? No stress.

You've fitted the VIOFO BP60 so your dash cam can keep watching while you're parked, without draining the car battery. Now you need to know which port does what, what the lights mean and how to get it talking to the app. Here's the quick cheat sheet, with VIOFO's full manual at the bottom.

💡 Pro Tip: Hardwire the Input for a 45-Minute Charge

VIOFO quotes about 45 minutes to charge on the supplied hardwiring power cable, versus about 65 minutes on the cigarette lighter cable. If your drives are short, hardwiring the input to the fuse box is the way to get the most parking time back. Fuse holders come in the box, but a proper tap kit and test light make the job cleaner.

If DIY installing, grab a Test Light too.

4. What's in the Box

  • BP60 battery pack
  • Hardwiring power cable (3 m) and cigarette lighter plug power cable (2 m)
  • Hardwire Cable Adapter (2 m), Type-C Hardwire Output Cable (4 m) and Dash Cam Type-C Power Cable (3.5 m)
  • Fuse holders and fuses (4 types each) and Velcro tapes

Optional (sold separately): Hardwire Output Cable with Mini-USB connector (3 m, for the VIOFO A119 V3, A129 Plus and A129 Pro), Cigarette Lighter Output Cable (0.3 m, no parking mode) and Type-C Fast Charging Cable (1 m, up to 60W with a USB-C PD charger).

5. Installation Steps

  1. Turn off the battery pack before you start.
  2. Connect the input. For plug-and-play, plug the cigarette lighter plug power cable into the INPUT port and your car's socket. For the fastest charging, plug the hardwiring power cable into INPUT and wire it to the fuse box:
    • Red (BAT): a fuse that stays live with the ignition off (connect on the load side of the fuse)
    • Yellow (ACC): a fuse that's only live with the ignition on
    • Black (GND): under a screw or bolt connected to the chassis (under 0.1 ohm on a continuity test)
Make sure each fuse tap is fitted the right way round, with the original vehicle fuse and the BP60 fuse in the correct slots. Not familiar with fuse boxes? Have a qualified technician install it.
  3. Secure the pack. Use the Velcro tapes to fix it somewhere stable. VIOFO recommends the glove box where there's room. Keep it clear of pedals, steering, airbags, seat movement and your view, and out of direct sun.
  4. Connect the dash cam using one of these (all support parking mode except the cigarette lighter output cable):
    • Dash Cam Type-C Power Cable from the DASHCAM port.
    • Type-C Hardwire Output Cable from the OUTPUT port (replaces your camera's original hardwire cable).
    • Hardwire Cable Adapter from the OUTPUT port, joined to the BAT, ACC and GND wires of your dash cam's own hardwire cable.
    • Cigarette Lighter Output Cable (optional) from the OUTPUT port, for cameras with a cigarette lighter plug. Parking mode isn't supported this way.
  5. Power it on and pair it. Hold the button for 2 seconds, then connect it to the VIOFO Dashcam App (below).
  6. Test it. Start the car and check the pack is charging, then switch off and confirm the camera keeps running in parking mode.

6. Connecting the VIOFO Dashcam App

  1. Turn on the battery pack and enable Bluetooth on your phone.
  2. Open the VIOFO Dashcam App and tap Add Battery Pack.
  3. Tap BP60_XXXXX to connect.

The app shows battery level, charging or discharging status, battery temperature, input and output voltage and current, estimated time to full charge, estimated usage time and battery capacity. Under Settings you'll find the device ID, firmware version, bound phone, the buzzer (power on/off sound) and Unbind Device.

App warnings: Low Battery (below 10%), High Temperature (internal temperature reaches 50°C) and Low Temperature (internal temperature below 0°C). The BP60 automatically shuts down if its internal temperature goes above 70°C.

7. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I still need a hardwire kit like the HK4 or HK6-A?
No, not to connect the car to the BP60: the pack's own hardwiring power cable does that. On the dash cam side, use one of the BP60's output cables. If you want to keep using your camera's own hardwire cable, connect it through the supplied Hardwire Cable Adapter (BAT to BAT, ACC to ACC, GND to GND), not straight into the car.

My camera won't go into parking mode on the BP60.
Check the port and cable. Parking mode works through the DASHCAM port (Dash Cam Type-C Power Cable) and the OUTPUT port (Type-C Hardwire Output Cable or Hardwire Cable Adapter). It doesn't work with the Cigarette Lighter Output Cable, and the USB-C IN / OUT port isn't for powering a dash cam.

Will it flatten my car battery?
The BP60 is designed to charge while you drive and then power the dash cam from its own battery once the car is off, so your vehicle battery isn't used for parking mode.

The app can't find the battery pack.
Make sure the pack is on (Bluetooth light flashing blue), Bluetooth is on and the VIOFO Dashcam App has permission to use Bluetooth and nearby devices. If it's bound to another phone, unbind it first (see below).

I've got a new phone and can't connect.
Unbind the old phone from Settings > Unbind Device in the app. If the old phone is lost or unavailable, press the BP60's power button 5 times quickly to unbind it, then connect with your new phone.

It stopped charging on a hot (or cold) day.
That's the protection working. The BP60 only charges between 0°C and 50°C, the app warns at 50°C internal temperature, and the pack shuts down above 70°C. Keep it in the glove box, out of direct sun.

Can I add a second battery like the BP100?
No. The BP60 has no expansion port. If you need longer parked cover or run three channels, the VIOFO BP100 (which takes the EP100) is the better fit. See our BP100 manual guide.

Using it with an A149 Pro Duo?
Set Cut-off Battery Pack Capacity (5/8/10/15%) in the camera's parking settings, and turn on the Battery Pack Capacity stamp if you want the level on your footage. More in our A149 Pro Duo manual guide.
