Check Your Connector Before You Order

The Dongar Pro only works where your car has a connector that matches one of its cable packs, or with the fuse box pack. Dongar's compatibility lists are written for US-market vehicles, and an Australian-delivered car can use a different mirror, roof connector or trim to the American version, so confirm the plug rather than the model name.

• Toyota and Lexus (PMA-01): a 5-pin connector in the dome light cavity, or a 10-pin connector behind the mirror cover.
• Mazda (PMA-02): a 10-pin mirror connector, either exposed on the back of the mirror or hidden under a mirror cover.
• Honda and Acura (PMA-03): the Honda and Acura mirror connector. Send us a photo before ordering this pack.
• Fuse Box Hardwire Kit (PMA-04): any 12V or 24V vehicle without a supported connector, wired to one constant and one ignition-on fuse.

Good to Know

• The plug-in packs need a supported factory connector, usually behind an auto-dimming mirror or in the dome light. No connector means the Fuse Box Hardwire Kit pack.
• Move the slider to T or ∞ with the car switched on. Setting it with the car off does not start a parking session.
• VIOFO cameras keep recording at normal quality while parked, but their own parking mode will not activate.
• Parked time depends on battery age and how much you drive. Dongar's 36 hours is an upper limit on a new, healthy battery.

Why a Voltage Cut-Off Matters for Parking Mode

Parking mode runs your dash cam from the car's starter battery after the engine stops, so the adapter needs a way to stop before the battery does. A dash cam draws little, but over a long weekend at the airport that adds up, and an older battery has less to give.

Without a cut-off, a constant feed keeps drawing until the battery cannot crank the engine. Hardwire kits solve that with a voltage monitor, but fitting one means fuse box work. The Dongar Pro builds the monitor into a plug-in adapter: it shuts the camera off once the battery reaches its threshold, which Dongar sets at no lower than 11.8V because anything under about 11V is too weak to rely on. The trade-off is that the threshold is fixed rather than adjustable, and how long you get before it trips depends on your battery rather than on the adapter.

How Does the Dongar Pro Install?

1. Turn the car off. Remove the mirror cover for a mirror harness, pull the dome light down for a 5-pin roof harness, or find the fuse box for the PMA-04 pack.
2. Fit the harness between the car's connector and the original plug, or into the dome light port. For PMA-04, fit fuse taps to one constant and one ignition-on fuse, then connect red to constant, yellow to ignition and black to a chassis bolt.
3. Plug the harness's 3-pin end into the Pro module and connect your dash cam to its USB-C port with the short cable.
4. With the car on, check for a solid red light. Move the slider to T or ∞, switch off, and confirm the light blinks green or red. Then mount the module and refit the trim.

Dongar describes the plug-in packs as needing no special tools. The fuse box pack is a proper hardwiring job with trim removal and fuse selection. On Toyota and Lexus, never unplug the 12-pin Toyota Safety Sense connector, which sits near the mirror and looks like the mirror plug.
