Who This Isn't For: The VS1 Mini records the road ahead only, tops out at 2K 30fps and cannot take a rear camera. If you want a screen and 60fps in a similar compact body, look at the VIOFO A119 Mini 2. For front and rear cover, the VIOFO A229 Plus 2CH is the better buy. A screenless dash cam makes sense because the screen is the part you use least. On a typical dash cam it helps you aim the lens on day one and play back a clip after an incident. How Does the VIOFO VS1 Mini Install?

1. Pick a spot behind the rear-view mirror, inside the wiper sweep and clear of any tint band, then wipe the glass clean and dry.
2. Fit one of the windscreen static stickers, peel the film off the mount's sticky pad and press the camera onto the sticker for a few seconds.
3. Tuck the power lead into the headlining and down the pillar with the trim tool, keeping it clear of any airbag, then plug the included car charger into the 12V socket.
4. Join the camera's Wi-Fi from your phone, open the VIOFO app to check the live view, tilt the bracket up or down to aim, and format the card.

The plug-in route needs nothing beyond the trim tool in the box. Hardwiring with the HK5 means finding a constant fuse, a switched fuse and a good earth point. If fitment is a barrier, see the note below on finding a local installer.
