Who This Isn't For: The base E360 has no rear camera in the box. For the road behind, the Vantrue E360 Plus adds a 2.7K rear camera, and the Vantrue E360 ACE adds the rear camera and a handheld mount. If distant number plates matter most, the Vantrue N4 Pro S is a conventional 3-channel camera with a 4K front. The E360 suits drivers who want the front and cabin in one view.

Good to Know

• The camera body has a rear camera port, but the base E360 ships without a rear camera or rear cable. Buy the E360 Plus or E360 ACE if you want one.
• Parking mode needs constant power from a Vantrue hardwire kit or OBD cable, sold separately. Vantrue warns that other brands' kits may not switch parking mode on and off correctly.
• Vantrue says to mount it at least 40cm from each A-pillar, ideally in the centre of the windscreen, and not directly in front of a passenger.

Why Does the Vantrue E360 Stitch Two Lenses Into One View?

The Vantrue E360 stitches its two lenses together so there is no blind gap between the front view and the cabin view. A conventional front and cabin setup records two separate pictures, each with an edge. Anything that happens at the edges, such as a car clipping your front guard at a roundabout or a passenger reaching across from the side, can fall between them. Each 210° lens sees past the halfway point, so the two views overlap and Vantrue's PanoVis stitching joins them into one continuous circle.

The trade-off is detail at distance. The 5.2K panorama is made from two 2592 x 1944 frames placed side by side and spread across 360°, so a number plate far ahead gets fewer pixels than it would on a 4K front camera. The cabin footage also turns black and white while the infrared LEDs are on. Because it records the cabin, rideshare drivers in Victoria and Queensland should note that transport rules restrict cameras that record inside the car. How Does the Vantrue E360 Install?

1. Insert a U3 microSD card, power the camera on and set the language and time zone before it goes on the glass.
2. Choose a spot in the centre of the windscreen, at least 40cm from each A-pillar. Clean the glass, fit the electrostatic sticker and press the adhesive GPS mount base onto it.
3. Slide the camera onto the mount with the front lens facing the road and the cabin lens facing the seats.
4. Plug the car charger into the cigarette lighter socket and tuck its 3.5m cable along the headlining and down the A-pillar, using the cable clip to keep it tidy.

With no rear camera there is no cable to run the length of the car, so the car charger install is short. The split mount means the camera lifts off while the base stays on the glass. Parking mode is the bigger job, because hardwiring means finding a switched and a constant fuse. The Vantrue VP04 OBD power cable avoids the fuse box in vehicles that keep the OBD port live when parked.
