• Every parking mode needs constant power from a hardwire kit, sold separately. Vantrue recommends its own ACC hardwire kit, because other brands can place the ACC detection pin differently.
• Vantrue rates the E2 Pro from -20°C to 60°C and advises turning it off once the cabin passes 60°C. A car in full summer sun can get that hot inside, so use collision detection, or turn it off, on the hottest days.
• No wireless remote or CPL filter is included. Vantrue lists both as optional accessories.
• Every resolution records at 30fps. There is no 60fps mode.

Why Does 4K Up Front Help With Number Plates?

4K helps because a number plate further up the road takes up only a tiny part of the frame, and more pixels across that frame leave more of them on the plate. On a 1080p or 1440p camera a plate two or three cars ahead can be a handful of pixels wide, and zooming into a paused clip only makes those pixels bigger. Glare adds a second problem, because a dash cam exposes for the whole scene, and a bright sky or oncoming headlights can wash out the plate you care about.

The Vantrue E2 Pro tackles both at the front, with 4K resolution and HDR switched on by default. The trade-off is at the back and on your card. The rear camera records 1440p rather than 4K, which is plenty for the car on your bumper but holds less detail on a car further back, and 4K files fill a memory card faster than 2.7K. Storage is the tax you pay for detail.

How Does the Vantrue E2 Pro Install?

1. Insert a microSD card and format it in the camera before your first drive.
2. Clean the windscreen behind the rear-view mirror with the dust-free cloth, fit the electrostatic sticker, then stick the GPS mount to it and fit the camera.
3. Fix the rear camera to the rear window and run the 6m rear camera cable along the headlining to the front camera, using the pry tool and cable clips in the box.
4. Plug the car charger's built-in 3.5m USB-C cable into the mount, or hardwire it with a Vantrue ACC hardwire kit if you want parking mode to start when you switch off.
5. Connect the Vantrue app over the camera's Wi-Fi, set your time zone, and let GPS set the date and time.

The plug-in route needs nothing beyond the pry tool in the box. Hardwiring is the bigger job, because it means finding a switched and a constant fuse, and SUVs and hatchbacks take longer because the rear cable has to pass through the tailgate seal.
