Who This Isn't For: This pack is hardwired, and the HK6 needs an ignition-switched fuse as well as a constant one. Many newer EVs and hybrids have no switched fuse in the cabin fuse box. Good to Know

• The HK6 is a three-wire kit that needs a constant fuse, an ignition-switched fuse and an earth. If every fuse in your cabin box is live with the car off, read why parking mode fails without an ACC fuse before ordering. BYD owners also need our BYD Add-an-Ignition T-Harness.
• By VIOFO's figures the 128GB card holds about 4 hours 16 minutes of front and rear footage before it loops. Step up a size if you drive long days.
• The front records 4K at 60fps with HDR off. Switch HDR on and the front drops to 4K at 30fps.
• The fuse tap kit does not include Micro3 taps, and a circuit tester is not part of the pack.

Why Does Low Power Parking Mode Suit an EV or Hybrid?

Low power parking mode suits an EV or hybrid because the camera keeps guard while drawing far less from the car's 12V battery. Most parking modes keep the camera recording while the car is off. That draws a steady current, so a voltage or time cut-off has to stop it, and on the smaller 12V battery in many EVs and hybrids that point comes sooner. After that the car is unwatched.

Low Power Impact Detection on the VIOFO A329S works differently. The camera sits in standby with the G-sensor armed, then wakes within about 2 seconds of an impact and records a one-minute clip. The trade-off is those first seconds: standby cannot record the moment before the hit. Hybrid Parking Mode covers that by recording normally first, then dropping to low power at the cut-off you set. For an EV or hybrid we suggest the 12.2V or 12.4V switch position on the HK6, for the reasons in our guide to whether a dash cam will drain an EV battery.

How Does the EV & Hybrid Ultimate Protection Pack Install?

1. Find a constant fuse and an ignition-switched fuse with a circuit tester, and match their blade size to the taps in the fuse tap kit.
2. Set the cut-off switch on the VIOFO HK6, then connect the red wire to the constant fuse, the yellow wire to the switched fuse and the black wire to a chassis earth.
3. Stick the front camera and GPS mount behind the rear-view mirror and tuck the USB-C lead into the headlining with the trim tool from the camera box.
4. Run the rear camera cable along the headlining, fix the rear camera to the rear glass and clip the CPL-600 onto its lens.
5. Insert and format the 128GB card, pair the VIOFO app, then choose Low Power Impact Detection or Hybrid Parking Mode and set the cut-off.

This is a fuse box job. It needs a circuit tester, which is not in the pack, and the trim tool from the camera box. Allow an hour or two.
