Is VIOFO a Chinese brand?

Yes. VIOFO is a Chinese company and its cameras are made in China. For an Australian buyer the more useful question is where the warranty sits. The cameras on this page are Australian stock, and a warranty claim is handled by us in Melbourne instead of being sent overseas.

What warranty comes with a VIOFO dash cam in Australia?

Does a higher VIOFO model number mean a better camera?

No, and the numbering catches people out. The A329S is the newer camera and records 4K at 60fps with Wi-Fi 6, but the A229 Ultra is the one that records 4K at both ends. The A229 series uses dual-band Wi-Fi. The letters tell you more than the numbers do: W means a waterproof rear camera, T adds a telephoto camera, and TC is telephoto plus cabin. Which VIOFO dash cams record in 4K?

The A119M Pro, A229 Pro, A229 Ultra and every A329 model record 4K at the front. The A229 Ultra and Ultra W are the only ones with a 4K rear camera as well. On the A329S 1CH, A329S 2CH, A329S 2CH IR, A329SW and A329T 2CH the 4K front can run at 60fps. The three-camera A329 kits record at 30fps.

Can I install a VIOFO dash cam myself?

Most drivers fit the windscreen mount and plug into the 12V socket without help. Parking mode takes more planning, because the camera needs constant power from a hardwire kit or an OBD power cable. We do not install cameras ourselves, but you can find someone local in our directory of independent installers. They are independent businesses, so you book and contract directly with them.
